This well-made shoe is out of the ordinary in two ways; the model, the Full Brogue Monk Strap is rare among the Monks, and, secondly, Goodyear Welted Italian shoes are the exception to the rule, most being glued or Blake Stitched. I find this extra fancy version of the monk quite pleasing and reminiscent of certain English custom-mades of the mid-century (see Lobb's on line catalogue for examples), Florsheims fancy monks and Chukkas, also from the 1950s and 1960s, and, of course, the obvious Victorian ancestors of the monk. The Monk Strap has gained popularity in recent years but it one of the oldest shoe models still in existence and has always had a loyal following among English gentlemen of cultivated taste.

Size: Marked and certainly suitable as a US 8.5D, (UK 7E), Continental 41,5D, for the medium-width foot but I prefer to think of it as a US 9D, (UK 8E), Continental 42D, in either case for the medium width foot.
