Ein ähnliches Monk-Strap-Modell, der “Oundle” (der das frühere “Stowe”-Modell ersetzt) wurde von Edward Green in den vergangenen Jahren angeboten (aktueller Preis 2008 ungefähr $1300 und 14-16 Wochen Lieferzeit). Auch gab es ehemals John Lobb’s Wholecut “Jermyn II”, doch ist mir auf dem heutigen Markt kein Vergleichbarer bekannt. Sogar Church’s-Cheaney Katalog führt dieses Modell nicht mehr auf. So ist dieser Monk tatsächlich ein mehr als veritables Fundstück und spricht durch sein verwegenes, jedoch immer korrektes Design, für sich selbst.

A Monk Strap model similar to this, the “Oundle”, replacing their earlier “Stowe” model, has been offered by Edward Green in the last few years (actual price about $1300 in 2008 and 14-16 weeks for delivery) and there was John Lobb’s wholecut Jermyn II of yesteryear, no longer available. I sold a similar pair under the listing Church's Joseph Cheaney Monk Strap: 42E, but neither Church’s or Cheaney show this model today. Thus, I think it is fair to say that this extraordinary Monk Strap can be said to be something of a rarity although a recent model. It is certainly an interesting and eye-catching (but always “correct”) design. This is a well made shoe, with channelled Goodyear welt (as in custom-made shoes or the very best ready-made), a lovely tan glove-leather lining with suede heel cap, solid brass buckle, and please notice the discreet brogueing at the border of the cap-toe and opening of the shoe, just the right amount of detail to enrich the appearance without distracting from the sleek design.
